Pedro de Moraes was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1942. He begun his career at the age of 12 years old, when he started to assist José and Humberto Franceschi in their photo studio.
As a freelancer photographer he worked in marketing photography, architecture, industrial photography, fashion, journalism and cinema. His work is inspired and influenced by photographers such as Henry Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Man Ray, Robert Doisneau, Richard Avedon amongst others of the war and post-war period. He was a militant photographer during the dictatorship period in Brazil.
There are around 15,000 images in his archive up to date.
